Acupuncture is one of four Complimentary Alternative Medicine (CAM) modalities covered under the Affordable Care Act in the state of California.
For most insurance plans that have acupuncture benefits, I can bill your insurance as an Out of Network provider, or provide you with a super-bill for reimbursement. I am In Network with Cigna HMO, Cigna PPO, Cigna + Oscar HMO/PPO, Health Smart, Multiplan, Prime Health Services and Coventry Health Care national Network.
The medical condition you would like to treat must still be verified by your health insurance company as a covered condition, and some out-of-network plans do not offer acupuncture benefits until the annual deductible has been met. HMO plans typically do not have out-of-network acupuncture benefits.
